This book consists of ten chapters. The first one is an introductory chapter containing some basic information and performance of Self-Help Groups in India; as also an introduction to Himachal Pradesh with special reference to District Shimla and District Kangra. The Second and third chapters throw light on the concepts and role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as well as physical growth and training of the members in both the districts of Himachal Pradesh. Fourth and Fifth chapters are related to Micro-financing and socio-economic profile of SHGs as well as SHGs ' women poverty alleviation in the sixth chapter, respectively. In the seventh and eighth chapters, income generation and empowerment of women are discussed, respectively. In Ninth chapter SHGs' comparative views in India has been analyzed. Conclusions and suggestions have been highlighted in tenth chapter.
